Most needs in rural Cambodia arise from a lack of opportunity.
Cambodians living in rural areas live a hard life. They work very hard to grow food and earn a small income to sustain their families. Often parents of young children are forced to move to larger cities and even foreign countries like Thailand and Vietnam to find work to provide for their children and their aging parents.
As leaders in our communities we need be able to offer practical help to the people struggling to make a living in our communities. Our pastors often work alongside their neighbors to provide the knowledge and technical assistance needed to solve problems and improve the outcomes of farming and business ventures.
Shalom pastors are often called on to help with health related issues, they offer basic first aid knowledge, care and in certain cases access to medicine if they have extra at home.
